It's a nice day for a white wedding

Lets hope it is a nice day.....
The story of the invite for my gorgeous friend and Bride-to-Be, Rachel.

Evening party at Cairn Bay Lodge

As you know from my previous post, I had organised a private view of some new work I have been producing.
I chose the beautiful setting of Cairn Bay Lodge, on the shoreside of Ballyhome Bay, to host the evening. It's period charm, classic oak panelling and feature Dutch fireplaces, lent for an ideal setting to show my wares.
I also invited friends Abigail and Ryan, of Abigail*Ryan, and Danielle, of Flax Fox to join me and bring a selection of their wonderful hand crafted goods.
I feel our three collections worked very well together. Not overlapping too much in style or content, instead singing the virtues of the handmade, small team businesses that we are.

Thanks everyone who came and helped out, most of all to my beloved who nursed me for four days afterward when I had burnt myself out and got lumbered with a horrible cold!

Oh and the mulled wine was delicious, thanks Chris!

Upcoming event at Birds&Words HQ.... very excited!!!

Invite inspiration

Recently I have been working on a friend's wedding invitation, and hope to do lots more in the future. I have alway been a lover of stationery- remember getting all the new stuff for going back to school!!
There will be some Birds&Words stationery in the offing soon, just getting my head around the manufacturing process!!
For now here are some invites I have been drooling over for inspiration. First ones featured here on Mamas Sauce blog, I wish I lived in Florida and worked in this print shop.... it just looks too cool and their ethos is right up my street.
Second images are by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. Again I'm a big fan of her work and how her business has developed.

New Work

Hi all.
Have been working on a new body of work lately, which involves inking up and photographing the beautiful letterpress blocks I have access to use.
I think they look more exciting than the prints sometimes!
So watch this space for the work to develop, meanwhile, here's a little peek at the process.....I'm quite excited!

The Gorgeous Lottie

This week I finally got to meet my dearest friend's new baby daughter. Her name is Lottie and she is 8 months old and terribly cute.
Mummy Anna is over visiting for a short while from Australia, so has a lot to pack into her trip. I was very privileged to spend a couple of days with the pair at Anna's mums house in Co.Armagh. The house is absolutely beautiful, fairly newly built, but seems like it's been there forever.
It felt like a mini break and it was brilliant to spend some long awaited time with Anna and find out how she is coping with motherhood!
Just very sad to say goodbye....:-(

House Coveting

I have recently renewed my obsession with building a house, but easy style! I came across this company and think that one of these kit homes would be .....perfect. Well insulated (after living in an old house with very drafty sash windows, this would be a novelty), light filled and set well into the landscape (I want to live in the country too!) Plus they are affordable too- if you have a plot of land spare to put it on.... and get it from Scotland!
Oh well, I'll keep on dreamin'

Moving Home to Mayo !!

Well we finally made it ! Moved back to Co.Mayo in the West of Ireland after leaving just under seven years ago. This is just a snippet of our little piece of heaven. Feeling very privileged to be living here right now.
Signing off Alice xx

View from my comfy chesterfield we found , thrown away down a little alley way a few years back. Love it when that happens (rare occurance though ).

We have yet to set sail , maybe today, fingers crossed the rain prevails.

Freshly sawed wood from the woodland beside us.
Blackberry jam making time !!

My personal favourite edition to our new home .
