Holiday scenes

Here's a look back at a few holiday snaps taken at various locations around Ireland. I do love a long weekend away to some remote spot on our beautiful island. We are going on a jaunt to Rathlin Island soon, so will be able to add a few more rugged, stretching coastline scenes to this collection.
Most of these photos are taken in Donegal over our years of holidaying there.

Just a little preview of the wedding stationery I have been working on recently....
Hopefully Julie has sent the invites, and I'm not releasing them too soon!

Jumpers for Goalposts

Just popping in to let you know what I'm working on at the minute.
As I mentioned in my previous post, my working time* at the moment is spent managing and creating pieces for several projects.
I am very excited to be working again with the fabulous team at AV Browne.
When employed by Belfast Print Workshop, I was partnered with seven designers, and assisted in  creating a suite of original prints that related to one or more of A V Browne's clients. Have a look at the catalogue here.
Initially I worked through, step-by-step, some printmaking techniques, then discussed with each designer which method would most suit the translation of their ideas.
In the end most of the work was screen printed, and after months of design tweaking, ink mixing, and head scratching, a body of work was born, of which I am most proud.

I am now working with them again, however now as a self-employed artist and printer.

This time there are eleven designers, each designing one print, which will be in an edition of eleven. The project is called Jumpers for Goalposts, so as you can guess, the theme is -football-!

More images will be posted as I start to prep inks, paper, screens and get to work bringing some sensational designs to life. Check in here too to see more process pictures.

.....Watch this space.....

*by working time, I mean the spare time I have when not bouncing Juno on my knee or cleaning up the aftermath of her thrice daily feeding sessions.

House tour, eight months in...

Just thought I would post some scenes from around our home. I have borrowed my Father-in-Law's fancier camera for a while, and am playing around with shots. I am also keen to use it to document a project I'm working on at the minute- more will be revealed soon.
As I get more and more back into the work swing of things (after having Juno eight months ago now), it's apparent that I am going to be working on several projects at one time. Not just solely making my own work, but printing for others, in a technical role, and designing and printing bespoke stationery.
I'm still going to keep posting it all here, as Birds and Words evolves into a cap for all the strands of my artistic endeavors.
As you may have seen here, one of my prints was recently featured in Good Homes Magazine, so I thought it quite fitting to show you round my good home!
