Sponge stamping fun at Eden Pottery

Today me, my two sisters and my mum had a lunch date at Eden Pottery, a short drive away from our home in Bangor, N.I. It's mums birthday at the weekend so we thought this would be a fun thing to do to mark the occasion, and just to get out and do something together as a family.
The idea was to go and decorate a piece of pottery of our choice, then sample the delights of the deli counter. The setting was beautiful- a large conservatory type building surrounded by green fields.
After getting over the initial fear of deciding what vessel to choose, what colours, what design..... we had a ball and really enjoyed seeing our creations come to life.
In a few days time we will be able to pick them up, fired and glazed and ready for use.
A great day out.

Retreat to Mayo

This week Dave and I took a few days out of our routine to travel down to Co.Mayo and visit Alice in her new digs by the lake.
A four hour journey gets you from here to there, just about bearable at 29 weeks pregnant. But it is so worth it.
I have always loved the countryside, being my playing field for most of my childhood, and here you are surrounded by it.
Alice's house sits overlooking a large lake, with direct access at the bottom of her garden. Inside, the house can be described as 'early Ikea', being originally built as a Swiss family's holiday cottage. Its open plan layout, large windows and central wood burning stove make it a very peaceful and enjoyable place to be.
Looking forward to seeing it again in the summer, with an extra small person on board!
